- Before you do anything at all, make sure you know why
there is both an esp and an esm, so you don't confuse them. The esp is
for playing; the esm is for modding plugins off of. It won't work if you
do it the other way around because plugins can't affect other plugins
(modding from an esp) and master files can't affect other master files
as that causes bugs. So: play with the esp, mod from the esm. =)
- sometimes there is an effect that I think has to do with 'bleeding'
collision meshes. I'm not entirely sure, but the effect causes doors not
to work in certain places while they work in others. If you playtest your
plugin and find that the door to your interior doesn't react at all -
it behaves like a static - it's most likely because of this effect. The
effect shouldn't have any effect on your work, and will be solved in time.
> What does the term "Dunmer"
mean?
"Dunmer" is the name dark elves prefer to call themselves. The
term "dark elf" is an Imperial invention.
> What does the term "Redoran"
mean?
To say it succinctly, it is a political power in the Morrowind Province
who controls the western-most sliver of the Province. More information
on them can be found on wikipedia.
> What is a "claim"?
A claim is a defined modding job which, when completed, fits perfectly
into a larger plan. In Soluthis for instance there are many exterior buildings
that make up the town's layout. Each building is a separate claim, and
when you finish that claim the player will be able to walk around in the
city, spot your house, enter it and see what you've modded. To pick up
a claim, all you have to do is say so, and then you can finish it at your
discretion. To "say so", kindly communicate it on our forum,
located at http://forum.silgrad.com/
.
> What are the logs about?
The weird arrangements of logs you'll see here and there signify
an area of Soluthis open to claiming. In other words, by claiming a section
like that you get to mod a part of the town exterior. If you're interested
in that, check out the esm in the Construction Set and then send a message
to Razorwing and he will reserve it.
> Can I create a quest to go with my claim?
Yes, please do. Just playtest it thoroughly to make sure it works.
> Reich Parkeep sounds like it has something
to do with Nazism.
The name was created by Bethesda. Reich Parkeep was actually an in-game
town you could visit in the very first game, Arena, and we're bringing
back a lot of quaint details from those dusty annals of lore.
> What does the name Soluthis come from?
In the early stages of Morrowind's development, Bethesda was planning
to mod the whole Province but only mod bits and pieces of it. In the end,
only Vvardenfell was modded, but modded in whole. However their original
plans for TES3 became known when they released an old concept map to coincide
with the 10th anniversary of Elder Scrolls in late 2004. Apparantly, they
had changed the name of Reich Parkeep to Soluthis. We kinda like the old
name, because the town existed in our TES3 mod and it's grown on us. So
then we decided to use both names, but use them separately for the two
different districts.
> Why don't you just import stuff from
TES3 instead of modelling it?
Because it is illegal to use assets from older Elder Scrolls
games in Oblivion mods. Trust us on knowing why we spent hundreds of hours
modelling our tribute. :)
> Can I use your stuff in my mod?
No! Half the point of us modelling these assets is so modders and players
feel drawn to us and have a fun time playing our mod. We absolutely do
NOT want to see our assets in any other mods whatsoever.
